Application deadline is April 1.
The Student Academy Healthy Communities Awards recognizes two student societies for making their community a healthier place while also promoting PAs. The winners will receive $1000, of which half of this amount ($500) will be awarded to the student society and the other half ($500) given to a charity* of the winner's choice.
Entry/Nomination Procedures
Applicants must be a AAPA student member submitting on behalf of the student society, which needs to be registered with SAAAPA and the PA program must meet the membership requirements of having at least 60% AAPA student membership of all the current PA student enrollment in that PA program. Note this percentage will increase by 5% each year for the next three years.
What is a Project in a Box?
A project in a box is a sustainable project that can be packaged, passed on, and promoted by other PAs, PA students, and student societies. PIBs can even be packaged with instructions on how to run the event, a PowerPoint presentation to help facilitate discussion, and handouts to compliment the event. All these projects need is a local leader or active member to download the project and use it.
How does one submit a PIB?
Using this application as your guide, write an outline of how the project was thought of and carried out. Include a timeline, contact numbers, and helpful hints that could help another student society carry out the same project, correcting any snags you ran into at your program. Include (where appropriate) a Power Point presentation, handouts, and other things you used when planning your event.
Judging Procedures
The Student Academy elected and appointed leaders will evaluate each entry. The decision will be announced at the Student Academy Assembly of Representatives meeting at AAPA's Annual PA Conference.
*A charity is defined as a not-for-profit entity that has 501(c)3 or 501(c)6 status.
