The State Farm® JACL/OCA Leadership Summit

March 5 - 8, 2011

The annual State Farm® JACL (Japanese American Citizens League)/OCA Leadership Summit will be held from Saturday, March 5 - Tuesday, March 8, 2011. We will be selecting 15 OCA and 15 JACL members to spend 3 intensive days in Washington, D.C. The Summit is designed to introduce OCA and JACL leaders to the political process by having them meet with members of Congress, the Congressional Asian Pacific American Caucus, Administation officials, government agencies, as well as with OCA's and JACL's colleagues in the Washington, D.C. social justice community.

During past leadership conferences, participants have met with Senator Daniel Inouye (HI), Senator Daniel Akaka (HI), Representatives Mike Honda (CA), David Wu (OR), Mazie Hirono (HI), Xavier Becerra (CA), former Secretary of Transportation Norman Mineta, EEOC Commissioner Stuart Ishimaru, among others.

OCA members are strongly encouraged to apply to participate in the summit. In the past, it has proven to be extremely helpful to members in realizing how OCA chapters can most effectively work with OCA National Center on issues important to the APA community.

All interested participants must complete and submit an application form.
